As is always necessary, I start my new blog with "Hello World".
Welcome, all! As life moves me from one career to the next, I have realized that maintaing the same blog for work-related items is not always apropos. My last three jobs have gone from open source to virtualization to retail software solutions. The common thread is that they are all start-ups and I am the marketing guy. But, otherwise, if you were interested in open source databases, you probably aren't interested in POS LP (or even know what it means!).
So, as I joined Agilence, Inc., a venture-backed software start-up, I decided that I should retire my other blog and start fresh! (Yes, I am keeping my reefkeeping blog and promise to start updating it again)
So, welcome one and all to my new blog.
I will be covering all sorts of topics related to my new role, from the industry and competition, to the market itself and all of the other things in between. I will even talk a little bit about the differences between marketing B2B and now marketing to retail.
Before I start to drone on and on, I think its appropriate to tell you a little bit about Agilence and then I will leave you for the day.
Agilence, Inc. (remember the URL is www.agilenceINC.com) is the leading provider of operational efficiency solutions for retailers. The Agilence solution identifies cashier shrink due to fraud, operational inefficiencies, and policy violations that directly impact the profitability of the organization. Delivered as subscription model, the Agilence solution offers a minimum $6 to $1 ROI in under 12 months. Founded in 2006, Agilence, Inc. is located in Camden, NJ.
Essentially, Agilence has figured out a way to marry the raw POS data to the video to make video business intelligence a reality. In fact, it is a patented technology AND it doesn't just apply to POS terminals. Anything that emits an electronic signal can be used to index video. It is very cool and very sexy.
So, I am off to the Food Marketing Institute's Loss Prevention Conference in San Diego, CA tomorrow and I will twitter and blog from the event. Hope to see you there... or here.
